National Ethics Advisory Committee

The National Advisory Committee on Ethics (CCNE) or more precisely the National Consultative Ethics Committee for Life Sciences and Health is an organization of ethical, scientific and philosophical French having only an advisory role.

Summary

History

CCNE was created by decree of 23 February 1983 , following the National Conference of Research initiated in 1982 by Jean-Pierre Chevenement and Philippe Lazar . It therefore makes its opinions in complete independence.

CCNE makes its first opinion on 22 May 1984 , "on tissue samples from embryos and fetuses died, for therapeutic, diagnostic and scientific." He has since made a hundred opinions available to all, on topics as varied and vital as the status of embryos, prenatal diagnosis , the conditions of organ donation, procurement and use of stem cells The right to the end of life ( euthanasia ), Prison Health, or predictions based on the detection of early behavioral disorders in children.

The last renewal of CCNE dated 19 February 2008 . The government has planned many reforms for 2009, including a workforce reduction.
