In human genetics, the most recent common ancestor is patrilineal man from whom all Y chromosomes of living men descend.

By analyzing DNA from people in several regions of the world, geneticist Spencer Wells has concluded that all humans alive today are descendants of a man who has lived in Africa about 60,000 years ago. See also
