Morocco Telecom

• In 1999, The ONPT, National Post and telecommunications, is divided into two separate entities: The Post and Morocco Morocco Telecom, the latter became an independent limited company owned 100% by the Moroccan State.
• In December 1999, acquiring 80% stake Casanet, one of the leading providers of access to Internet in Morocco , who created the site in 1995 Menara.
• On February 20, 2001, Vivendi acquired a 35% stake in AMI, by obtaining the international tender on privatization.

Competition

With more than 22.615 billion Dhs in sales in 2006, Morocco Telecom is the historical leader in the telecommunications market in Morocco with more than 60% market share in mobile phones, and nearly 90% share market regarding fixed telephony and Internet.

She shares the Moroccan market, with 2 other operators:

• Meditelecom : Fipar Holding: 49.77%, Finance Com: 37.18%, RMA Watanya: 13.06%.
• Wana Corporate : Subsidiary of holding Moroccan ONA.

Controversy over the rates of Morocco Telecom

A Moroccan industry must work more than two weeks to get a connection of 20 Mbps, unlimited phone calls and several television channels.

Morocco Telecom tracing its costs with those of European operators forgetting in passing that the GNP per capita is 4600 Moroccan USD , which is very small compared to the average GNP of the European Union ^Internet

July 2010: Application of a limit of 500 MB of download per day (3G).

Morocco Telecom has begun implementing a new policy limiting a rate of 1.8 mb / s and a download limit of 500 MB per day for the majority of mobile customers.
