Moesia is a country Balkan of ancient Europe, between the Danube and Macedonia. It covers a territory included in the current northern Bulgaria , the current Serbian and a small part of Romania.

Originally inhabited by the Thracians , the region receives from the ^eighth century BC. BC settlers Greeks who settled along the coast. In the ^first century BC. AD , the Romans , masters of the area, founded the province of Moesia, which will partially part of the Eastern Empire thereafter.

The Moesia prima was attached to the Diocese of Dacia , Moesia secunda and the diocese of Thrace. It was occupied by the Goths around 238.

The indigenous language of Moesia before the Roman conquest, the Moesian (or Moesians), poorly documented, is deemed to belong to the Thracian-Illyrian close to a whole satem Moesian the grouping with the Dacian , the Mysians and Thrace.

According to some traditions, the area was evangelized by St. Andrew the brother of St. Peter and first disciple of Christ who suffered martyrdom ( St. Andrew's Cross ).

Early in the ^sixth century AD. BC, the tribes Slavic are emerging in the region, gradually assimilating the local Romanized ( Thracians ). At the same time, the Bulgarians , led by Khan Asparoukh , settle back between the Danube and the Mediterranean:
