Miguel Corte Real
Miguel Corte-Real (ca. 1448-1502?) Was an explorer Portuguese of the fifteenth century.
He was the son of Joo Vaz Corte-Real , and brother of Gaspar (also a browser) and Vasco Anes.
After the voyage of Gaspar in 1500, Miguel and Gaspar Corte-Real undertake 15 May 1501 a new expedition to Greenland with three ships. Faced with the weather and icebergs , they can not follow the route used by Gaspar last year, and take a more southerly course, and reach the earth, probably in Labrador and Newfoundland. They capture some sixty indigenous Beothuk and separate early September, Miguel returning to Portugal with two ships, Gaspar continuing south. There is no trace of Gaspar after the separation.
May 10, 1502, no new Gaspar, Miguel began an expedition in search of three new boats. Arrived in Newfoundland in late June, where they had left Gaspar, they split to facilitate their research, and rendezvous on Aug. 20. Only two boats to reach, that of Miguel was never found, and it was probably carried away by a storm. The other two boats return to Portugal. According to H.
