Michael Grant (Historian)
Michael Grant ( London , 21 November 1914 - 4 October 2004 ) is a British academic specialist in numismatics and history, Greek , Etruscan and Roman.

After studying classical Trinity College of Cambridge , Michael Grant was a professor at Edinburgh University. A prolific writer, he wrote no fewer than 50 books (essays and translations comments), on issues ranging from the Roman Numismatic the eruption of Vesuvius or the Gospels. He himself described as "one of the very few freelance writers of the past: a rare bird. He was an Officer (1946) and Commander (1958) of the Order of the British Empire , was vice-president of Queen's University Belfast and the University of Khartoum. The eulogy of the newspaper The Times said it was "one of the few ancient historians to win the admiration of scholars and the general public."
