Melchizedek
Melchizedek or Melki-Tsedeq ("King of Justice") is an enigmatic biblical character who appears briefly in the story of Abraham as reported in the book of Genesis , Chapter 14 verses 18 to 20. The name is symbolic (King of Justice) as the title of King of Salem (Peace).
Returning from a victorious campaign, Abraham meets this mysterious character whom we know nothing more;
"Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine, he was a priest of God Most High. He pronounced this blessing: "Blessed be Abraham by God Most High who created heaven and earth, and blessed be God Most High who has delivered your enemies into your hands." And Abraham gave him tithes of all. "
- Book of Genesis 14
The name of Melchizedek appears again in the Book of Psalms :
"The Lord has sworn an oath in irrevocable: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek king. "
- Psalm 110
