Once conquered the Iberian , the rulers and historians of the Iberian peninsula consider the five Christian kingdoms sometimes competing, sometimes allies that exist at the end of the period of the Middle Ages. Some survived the maximum territorial expansion of al-Andalus , as the small enclave of Asturias , others were cut on the steps recaptured.

At the end of the " critical year ", the political unification of the land, projects the country directly to the rank of an Empire , which multiplies the conquered lands as so many other steps: Hispaniola (1492), New Spain (1525), Empire, propelled to the forefront on the European scene in the space of a few decades, appoint viceroys on these new lands to ensure its regal administration.
