Matriarchs (Bible)
The four Matriarchs ( Hebrew "mothers") mentioned in the Book of Genesis are the wives of the Biblical Patriarchs. These women are viewed by the Abrahamic traditions as the ancestors of the children of Israel.
They are:
They are, according to the Bible, buried in the Cave of Machpela in Hebron , except Rachel, who is in his own tomb.
The maids of Rachel and Leah, Bilhah and Zilpah , although mentioned in the text as biological mothers of several children of Jacob, are not accounted for, their children having been designed on behalf of their mistresses.
