Martha is, as the New Testament , a woman disciple of Jesus Christ. She is the sister of Lazarus and Mary of Bethany.
She attends the resurrection of her brother Lazarus.
According to the Tradition of Provence, it was established after the death of Christ in Provence at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer with Lazarus and Mary of Bethany, and defeated Tarasque to Tarascon , which was erected in his honor a collegiate Royal, on the site of his tomb. Here, the faithful come to pray in large numbers.
Martha is celebrated in the Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church and the Lutheran Church.
His feast day is June 4 for the Orthodox and July 29 for Catholics.
