Male Prostitution

Male prostitution is the offering of paid sexual services by a man ( , (English word passed in the French slang to describe a prostitute), or prostitute). The sex / the customer / e and the prostitute's sexual conduct against him does not necessarily correspond to the specific orientation of the latter Unlike the sex workers, prostitutes have been less studied by researchers. The work done against them, however, suggests that their conduct in the context of their work is essentially different from that of the opposite sex and requires further investigation

In the medieval Arab world, it was tolerated , .

America

If one refers to records of courts and to the reports of vice squads, male prostitution is America in the late 1600s with the expansion of urban areas and the formation of communities homosexual. In the late nineteenth century, male prostitution is becoming more apparent with the proliferation of baths, brothels as paresis Hall located in the area of Bowery in New York and bars in which "fairies" solicit men for of sex with them and receive a commission for selling beverages .

Prostitution in modern times

Meeting Places

Prostitutes and clients can meet in several ways. Sex workers are frequently named after the place where they find their (s) client (s). The prostitutes who work on public roads, public baths and parking lots are called hustlers. For the U.S. , the same men who work in bars are called bar hustlers, go-go boys if they do not dance on a stage or "exotic dancers" in the opposite case. These same terms are for strippers. The United States , prostitutes who advertise through the press or the Internet, are escorts, "massage / masseur" or "rent boys". Of these, one must distinguish between independent and escort them part of an agency. The number of prostitutes on the street (husters) decreased significantly with the solicitation via the Internet but the need for the homeless and needy of prompt cash continues the attendance of the street.

The following list is not exhaustive prostitutes.

Internet

Prostitutes tend to promote themselves on sites niche or, at best, relying on an agency. In the first case, they pay a monthly fee to be submitted photo (s), text and how contact them. These fees are between U.S. 30 ( 22) and U.S. 300 ( 225) monthly. The client contacts directly the sex worker who then retains all of its gains. In the case of an agency, it maintains a list of prostitutes on the Internet. The client contacts the agency that is responsible for sending him a prostitute for a time and place agreed. The prostitute pays a percentage (usually 25 to 33%) of his winnings to the agency but keeps to himself all the rewards it receives. Most agencies have, with the applicant, an interview during which he will be examined and portraits. After the interview, a file will be posted on the Internet with pictures and text that contains the profile of the sex worker and the details he has provided . It is not unusual for a single individual working for several agencies simultaneously to have no downtime and ensure maximum revenue.

Sometimes, an occasional prostitute, will try to find customers with messages he leaves on Internet chat m4m (male for male). By ignorance of the market or in urgent need of money, he offers his services at a lower price than the market. He is also reluctant to leave his portrait on canvas and is more restrictive services (many do not embrace and do not practice sodomy). He will use an esoteric language as "looking for a generous man" or, to U.S. eeks help (seek assistance in dollars).

Inserts in the press

Unlike France, most major U.S. cities, Dutch or German publish newspapers or weekly magazines aimed at the gay community. The prostitute (s) willingly offer their services in front of these publications.

Roads and streets, bars and clubs

The prostitute can solicit on the public highway (eg Times Square to ( New York ) before the 1990 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles , The Wall in Sidney , the Porte Dauphine in Paris , Polk Gulch in San Francisco , Taksim Square Istanbul , Lapangan Banteng Square in Jakarta , etc..) in a bus depot, a green space, a "bar" (as ex-Rounds of New York , Los Angeles, Numbers), a go-go bar "in Thailand and the Philippines or a " dancing ".

Most major cities have places vested in prostitution (male or female) where guests traveling by car ( Bois de Boulogne in Paris ). The names of these sites vary with the city and are potentially dangerous for both the prostitute (s) and potential customers until the residents realize what is happening and warn the police ... Homophobic gangs of predators can molest prostitute (s) in these areas. In any event, the danger may be part of the attraction of these places of marauding are paid to talk and keep company with the fairer sex but of sexual liaison.

Public baths and sex clubs

The hustlers are willing to work in public baths reserved for men sex clubs called the United States. However, prostitution is being strictly prohibited, these prostitutes are often excluded.

Brothel

A prostitute can also work in a brothel reserved for males. This is common in Southeast Asia ( Thailand , Malaysia ) but can be found in other countries including some western countries (we call these houses "stable" in the U.S. ). The pimps are relatively rare in prostitution where most male prostitutes working for them or are part of agencies

Sex tourism

Sex tourism focused on male prostitution especially interested in a female clientele with the exception of Thailand. To taste the joys of sex tourism and eat some illicit drugs in their country ( marijuana , ecstasy ), women do not hesitate to move in the direction of Southern Europe ( Italy , Greece , Turkey , Croatia and Spain ) the Caribbean ( Jamaica , Barbados , Martinique , Dominican Republic ), from Kenya in Africa , from Bali in Indonesia and Phuket in Thailand. The Nepal on Morocco , the islands Fiji , the Equator , and Costa Rica are less accrued. The Germans have a higher attendance Sosua in the Dominican Republic , the Greece and Morocco. The Japanese prefer to Bali in Indonesia , while Canadians and women in the Nordic countries have no preference. They did not look as a companion, a tour guide or a dancer but a "temporary lover. The majority are women from quarantine in search of a sexual encounter .

Male prostitution is booming in India where it was documented cases of harassment by gigolos .

Amount of service

The price is determined by supply and demand and by different factors: age, physical attractiveness, sexual position , race, personality, expertise, time spent with the client, ability to maintain an erection, charm, submission to different fetishes , reputation of the prostitute who is a determining factor for the law of supply and demand. In addition, a prostitute will ask a higher price, or, conversely, lower than the market based on their reservations.

From the Journal of Homosexuality, 5% of prostitutes in activity belong to the group of escorts Risks

In all forms of prostitution begins, the worker / sex worker and client must face a number of risks:

  • Medical ( sexually transmitted infection , use of drug (s), sexual abuse (s));
  • Legal: (soliciting, drugs, age of consent);
  • Culture: rejection by relatives and friends, vilification or violence in the case of prostitution gay , loss of employment
  • Personal feeling self-destruction, exploitation, worthlessness, to lead a "double life". Loss of affectivity.
  • Physical or verbal assault. Studies show that assaults on prostitutes are less frequent than those committed to their female counterparts. Prostitutes working on the highway and young recruits (especially when it comes to teens) seem more likely to be physically abused by their customers Cases

    The brothels , whatever the composition of the team working there (men or women) are legal in a number of countries (eg the Australia where only the State of Tasmania refutes) while prostitution on highway often remains illegal. In France , prostitution is not prohibited, but soliciting (even "passive") and pimping (ie brothels) are prohibited. For the U.S. , the brothels are illegal (except in Nevada ) but many cities do not enforce the law strictly by tacit agreement with the prostitute (e) s. Much of the prostitutes of both sexes avoid being arrested by not practicing the solicitation. They often argue that their payment is due because of the time spent and not a sexual act. Any sexual act between him / prostitute (e) and his / her client (s) is deemed spontaneous and consensual Social Reviews

    The difference in age, social status and / or economically between a prostitute and her client is the source of bitter social criticisms , .

    The same criticism can be directed to intimate relationships that do not involve prostitution, but that the company calls a "quasi" prostitution. In this case, the oldest member will in the Anglo-Saxon name for sugar daddy (when the man is older) or sugar momma (when the woman is older). The youngest will receive the designation of Kept boy or boy toy . These members are sometimes known collectively by his dad and the community homosexual (without using the word incest ), is regarded as an operation The prostitute in the culture

    Male prostitution is a literary and cinematic theme common in the West since the 1960s. Especially in books and movies based on homosexuality where the prostitute can become a key figure to be portrayed as a tragic but sexy (see the film Mysterious Skin , in which a prostitute is assaulted), a person living an impossible love or idealized still a rebel. Although less common in film and novels, the male prostitute whose clientele is exclusively female (gigolo, escort) is a character generally less tragic than the homosexual. Movies like American Gigolo have done much to portray as a gigolo lover and a refined seducer (the film despite her Gigolo is a satirical cartoon character) Male Prostitution and feminism

    The subject of male prostitution seems to have been neglected by theorists of feminism in their studies. The work of Justin Gaffney and Kate Beverley, conducted on prostitutes from the center of London , make the comparison between the population of prostitutes engaged in broad daylight or, conversely, hidden and traditionally subservient position of women in a patriarchal society. They argue that, as the latter, the hierarchy of sex workers is that they occupy a subordinate position in society .

    In contrast, followers of socialist thought in the perspective of a critical theory of the current post-structural concluded that, unlike women, misogynist social structure and the hegemonic prostitutes are perceived, by some, in a submissive role. From a series of interviews, Douglas Langston is the attitude towards prostitutes for sex "remarkably misogynist" and compares it to the works of apologetics Christianity of CS Lewis. Langston argues that both have a remarkable similarity misogynist point of view of the homoerotic male and fetishism that is patriarchal domination, especially on issues seen by other members of society, as less likely assuming roles bid .
