List Of Non Catholic Observers At Vatican Ii
At the Second Vatican Council , for the first time, a number of non-Catholic observers were allowed to attend the hearings. Here are their names:
- Edmund Schlink (1903-1984), delegate of the Evangelical Church (that is to say Protestant Lutheran) of Germany. Is a professor of systematic theology at the University of Heidelberg. He is Director of the Research Institute of Ecumenical he founded this university, and participates in the Department of Faith and the World Council of Churches founded in 1947.
- The Canon Bernard Pawley , an Anglican from Ely Cathedral in Britain , a delegate from the Anglican Communion. The second observer is the Bishop of Ripon, England , John Moorman.
- The Russian Church Outside Russia (Orthodox not rallied to Moscow ) assigns two observers: Monsignor Anthony Bartasevic , bishop of Geneva and the Archpriest Igor Troyanof , rector of churches in Lausanne and Vevey.
- Canon Peter J. Maan , observer for the Old Catholic Church , a professor of Scripture at the seminary of Amersfoort. It will become in 1964 , rector of the Old Catholic Cathedral of Utrecht.
- Pastor Krysten Skydsgaard , professor of systematic theology and director of the Ecumenical Institute at the University of Copenhagen , Denmark is delegated by the Lutheran World Federation.
- Lukas Vischer , pastor of the Reformed Church in Switzerland, is secretary of the Department of Faith and the World Council of Churches and is delegated by the WCC.
- Bishop Fred P. Corson is one of the delegates of the World Methodist Council which he chairs.
- Two dependent Orthodox Patriarchate of Moscow: the achiprtre Vitalij Borovoy professor of theology, he was previously responsible for preparing the entrance of his church in the WCC, and since 1961 , he was its representative in Geneva and Archimandrite Vladimir KOTLIAROVA , representative of the Patriarchate of Moscow , senior vice of the Russian Mission in Jerusalem
- Oscar Cullmann , a Protestant theologian, professor at the Sorbonne and the University of Basel.
- Roux Hebert , pastor of the Reformed Church of France was a delegate to the World Presbyterian Alliance during the first 2 sessions, and the Protestant Federation of France during the following.
- Max Thurian , Reformed pastor and theologian and is sub-prior of the community of Taiz , one of the few experiences of monastic Protestant.
