Work on the expansion began in 2009 and ended in 2012. The cost of the project is estimated at 800 million MAD. It also includes construction of an eighth interchange that will add to the seven already in use, will lie between the two exchangers Mohammedia current (East and West). It is expected that the expansion is done at the central plain land, except with the approach viaducts where it is planned to extend from the sides.

Work began in January 2007 and ended in June 2011. This highway of 321 km consists of 3 main sections:
This highway is the same time the last stage of the east-west route and is also an important section of the Transmaghrbine beginning to Nouakchott , the Mauritanian capital, and through the countries of Maghreb eventually leading to the city of Tobruk in Libya.
The project, estimated at 9 billion MAD, has 10 interchanges, including 6 between Fez and Taza. It crosses several roads, including the RN 6, two railroads (Fez-Oujda and Nador Taourirt), a pipeline, in particular.
The route also crosses numerous wadis, including that of Sebu. Its axis was chosen to follow the crests of hills. This is to avoid as much as possible crossing wadis, to minimize earthwork remains significant nonetheless.
In total, more than 84 million m3 of earth will be moved. The project also foresees the realization of 26 viaducts, 75 overpasses, 16 underpasses and 47 vehicle crossings, in addition to many hydraulic structures, walkways and bridges.
Under construction
With a length of 41 km, this bypass will link the various highways North: A 1 , East: A 2 and South: A 3 , which take their origins at Rabat , thereby relieving the arteries of the capital, to sell more easily through traffic and to better serve the suburbs and the new town of Tamesna.
The construction works started on 18 February 2011 with completion expected in 2014 , they will require a budget estimated at 2.2 billion MAD.
The construction works of the motorway were launched on 12 April 2010 by King Mohammed VI. This highway will be completed by end June 2013 . With a length of 172 km, this section will serve the following cities:
In the study
Extending along the coast and the motorway which will include Atlantic, thus ending almost 600 km. The start of construction for this highway of 140 km long, is planned for December 2011 for completion in January 2015. The production cost is estimated at MAD 4.2 billion.
The highway lanes in Casablanca - Berrechid by Mellil Tit , a linear 30.5 km, is, in turn, relieve relief roads of Casablanca arriving at saturation. It will also and thanks to the bypass of Casablanca , easier access to the various suburbs of Casablanca.
The production cost of this route is estimated at 1.35 billion MAD. The start of construction is planned for January 2012 for completion in December 2014.
