The four bishops he consecrated ( Bernard Fellay , Bernard Tissier de Mallerais , Richard Williamson and Alfonso de Galarreta ) were also excommunicated. On 21 January 2009 , Pope Benedict XVI lifted the excommunication decree from them by .
- Monsignor Emmanuel Milingo in 2006 , Benedict XVI has officially pronounced excommunication latae sententiae, having spent four bishops without papal mandate . The four bishops he consecrated ( George Augustus Stallings, Jr. , Peter Paul Brennan , Patrick E. Trujillo and Joseph J. Gouthro ) were also excommunicated .
