List Of Ecoregions In Morocco

The WWF has compiled a list of biome he called ecoregions. These biomes do not describe the Moroccan environment as a whole, because it is heavily fragmented by agricultural activities , including but these ecoregions reflect the environment of areas left in the wild.

Terrestrial ecoregion

Typical Palearctic , Morocco has biomes:

• Temperate coniferous forests
  • Mediterranean conifer and mixed forests
• Forests, woods and Mediterranean scrub
  • Mediterranean dry woodlands and steppe
  • Mediterranean woodlands and forests
  • Mediterranean acacia-dry woodlands and succulent Argania thickets
• Meadows and thickets of mountain
  • Mediterranean High Atlas juniper steppe
• Deserts and xeric shrublands
  • North Saharan steppe and woodlands

Freshwater ecoregions

• Permanent Maghreb
• Temporary Maghreb

Marine ecoregions

• Alboran Sea
• Saharan Upwelling
