List Of Archbishops Of Paris
The archbishop of Paris is one of the 23 archbishops in France.
Tradition says that the diocese was created in the third century by St. Denis. The diocese of Paris , formerly suffragan of the Archbishopric of Sens , was elevated to an archdiocese on 20 October 1622. The title of Duc de Saint-Cloud , which gives the peerage was created in 1674 for the Archbishops. The archbishopric was temporarily abolished during the French Revolution between 1793 and 1798.
The current headquarters of the archdiocese is the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. Its suffragan dioceses are:
- Meaux , he also exist since the third century
- Versailles , established on 29 November 1801
- Creteil
- Evry-Corbeil-Essonnes
- Nanterre
- Pontoise
- Saint-Denis
These last five were established on 9 October 1966.
