Lex Titia

Lex Titia is a law passed on 13 November 43 BC. AD by comitia centuriata Roman. It provides for five years at second triumvirate (Mark Antony, Octavius and Lepidus) considerable powers:

  • the right to appoint judges instead of comitia , including appoint consuls for five years.
  • the right to dispose of the armies ( imperium )
  • the right to enforce Roman citizens without appeal and then dispose of their land as they wish.

This law acknowledges the existence of the triumvirate, unlike the first triumvirate that was illegal. It suspends the operation of the Roman Republic , theoretically for a temporary period.
