Leaders Of Judaism
The major figure of the Jewish people can also designate their fathers , their spiritual leaders and even its political leaders.
The patriarchs
The patriarchs of the Jewish people traditionally are Abraham , Isaac and Jacob. These three characters are considered the three fundamental pillars of the Jewish people.
Spiritual Leaders
The spiritual leaders of the Jewish people often become leaders of this people. The most famous example is that of Moses , who was on one side who freed the Hebrew people from their bondage in Egypt , but on the other side who gave the Torah. Other examples may be the prophets of Israel as Samuel , Elijah , Isaiah , Ezekiel , or even Ezra and many others, the Tannaim as Hillel , Rabbi Akiva , Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai , or other famous rabbis as the Rambam and the Ramban , even going to Rav Kook and Rav Ovadia Yosef.
Political leaders
It would be good to detail that sometimes the spiritual leader is also the political leader such as Moses and Ezra were.
As such (political leader) means Kings of Israel from biblical times as David and Solomon , of the Hasmonean period as Mathias , and Judah , for some leaders of the State of Israel as David Ben Gurion , Menachem Begin , Moshe Dayan and Shimon Peres and of course the few leaders who stood up during the exile of Israel as Bar Kokhba and Theodor Herzl.
The political leader of Israel, most of the time and his dismay, was in conflict with his spiritual leaders. The most famous couple was that of Ahab and Elijah. The two were constantly fighting, but this is just one example among many others.
