Latin Patriarchate Of Jerusalem
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem is a court of the Roman Catholic Church in Middle -and- Middle-East. The vast majority of its followers are Arabs. The highest Catholic authority bears the Latin East as Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem (incumbent: His Beatitude Fouad Twal since 22 June 2008 ).

History
Period of the Crusades
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem was founded by the Crusaders after their capture of the city July 15, 1099.
The jurisdiction of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem spread to the territory of the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
The patriarch directly controlled the Christian quarter of Jerusalem and had three suffragan bishops: Hebron , Lydda - ramuli and Bethlehem - Ascalon.
The Patriarchate had four other archdioceses: Tyre , Caesarea , Nazareth and Petra.
The Latin patriarch of Jerusalem to succeed from 1099 to 1187, then in Acre until the fall of the city in 1291.
Modern
The Patriarchate was restored as residential headquarters July 23, 1847 by Pius IX. The first owner, the patriarch Joseph Valerga took his seat in January 1848.
Until 1987, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem had been traditionally chosen from the Italian Franciscans, for the first time in 1987, chose a priest of Palestinian origin, HB Michel Sabbah.
- 1987 Monsignor Michel Sabbah is the first Palestinian Arab styled Latin patriarch of Jerusalem.
- 2006 BishopFouad Twal was appointed coadjutor of the patriarch by Pope Benedict XVI with the office of vicar general.
- 2008 Bishop Fouad Twal becomes Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has jurisdiction over the only Latin Rite Catholics in Israel, Jordan and Cyprus.

The Vicariate of Jordan has 32 parishes.
In Cyprus
The Vicariate of Cyprus has 6 parishes.
Conference of Latin Bishops in the Arab region
The Conference of Latin Bishops in the Arab region there since March 1967. It brings together bishops, vicars patriarchal and apostolic administrators of Iraq, Djibouti, Lebanon, Kuwait, UAE, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Israel, Cyprus, Egypt and Somalia. It is chaired by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land
The Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land brings together the various catholic bishops (Latins and Orientals) having jurisdiction in the Holy Land. Its statutes were approved by the pope in 1992. It is chaired by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
Formation of Clergy
For the training of his clergy, the Latin Patriarchate has the Jerusalem seminary established in 1852.
Relations with other Churches
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem is a member of the Council of Churches of the Middle East.
