Kitab I Aqdas

The Kitab-i-Aqdas (Arabic: ) was written in Arabic by Bah'u'llh to 1873 , when he was in exile in Saint-Jean d'Acre. It is the backbone of his work and is called "the Aqdas", the "Most Holy Book," the "Book of Laws" or "Mother Book" of the Baha'i revelation. Shoghi Effendi, the described as the "Charter of the future world civilization." Bah'u'llh was sent manuscript copies to the Baha'is of Iran a few years after its revelation in 1891 and organized the publishing lithographic Arabic text to Bombay.

This is not a book of laws, because its content deals with many other topics such as ethics, the Baha'i institutions, worship, the description of a new world order, prophecies or letters to world leaders. While reaffirming the validity of the great religions of the past, the unity of God, love of neighbor and purpose of life on earth, "the Most Holy Book" repeals certain ritual laws of the past and gives new perspectives in three areas: the relationship of the individual with God, physical and spiritual issues of the individual, as well as relations between individuals and society ... it reveals how embryonic code of laws for social and spiritual development of the charter of the future world civilization that Bah'u'llh came to bring.

Are considered part of the Kitab-i-Aqdas following supplements:

  • "Questions and Answers", consisting of 107 questions submitted to Baha'u'llah by Zaynu'l-Muqarrabin about law enforcement, and the responses of Bah'u'llh.
