The Shoutous (wtw) are mentioned in Transjordan in the texts of execration ; Albright likens them to "children of Seth's book of Numbers , bene shout is the former name of Moab .

The similarity between Moab and the territory shoutous leading researchers to equate the three terms Moab - son of Seth - Shutu.

The shoutous, a nomadic people (see Shasou ) are on the Middle Bronze over a large territory of Transjordan. Two inscriptions from the time of Ramses II speak of Moab (mu'bu) on a smaller portion of the territory east of the Dead Sea. Moab is a tribal society more localized and structured, ruled by kings from an uncertain time.

The tomb of Hnmw-htp shows a nomadic caravan from the land of SWT. This could include Shutu.
