John Pepin Philosophize

Jean Ppin (born 30 March 1924 , died on 10 September 2005 ) was a French philosopher specializing in the history of ancient philosophy. His work has had a great influence on the study of Neoplatonism.

Route

From 1942 to 1948 he studied philosophy and theology at Toulouse. In 1950 he was admitted to the CNRS , where he founded in 1969 the research team "Theories of the Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages" (UPR76) he directed until 1986. Meanwhile, he taught from 1963 to the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Section IV: Historical and Philological Sciences). In 1979, he founded the series "History of the doctrines of classical antiquity" in Vrin.
