John Maria Oesterreicher
John Maria Oesterreicher, born Johannes Oesterreicher ( 2 February 1904 - 18 April 1993 ) was a theologian Catholic Austrian-born American and one who did most in favor of reconciliation between Jews and Catholics. He was one of the architects of the declaration Nostra Aetate issued by Vatican II in 1965 and repudiated the anti-Semitism.

Biography
He was born into a Jewish family Stadt Liebau in Moravia (then possession Austrian , and now Czech Republic ). He converted to Catholicism and became a Catholic priest in 1927. He served as pastor at Gloggnitz , where he founded the local group of scouts that he was the chaplain. He was very active in opposition to Nazism during the 1930s. In 1934 he founded the newspaper Die Erfllung ("The Undertaking") which sought to improve relations between Judaism and Christianity and to combat anti-Semitism. Georg Bichlmair sj , serves as a basis for reflection on Jules Isaac, as in Bernhard Blumenkranz in their work on the origins of Christian anti-Semitism .
