John Dudley
John Dudley ( 1501 - 22 August / 23 August 1553 ), 1st Earl of Warwick 1, then Duke of Northumberland , son of Edmund Dudley and Elizabeth Grey.
He enjoys the favor of Henry VIII of England , despite the displeasure of his father, and was appointed Grand Admiral of England. He had even more influence with his successor, the young Edward VI of England , where he became Lord President . Somerset, who attempted to assassinate him in revenge, was put to death on 22 July 1551 .
Misled by ambition, Dudley conceived the idea of bringing the crown in his family saw Edward VI near the tomb, he persuaded him to exclude from the throne his own half-sister Mary Tudor and Elizabeth , then choose to heiress Jane Grey , a descendant of Henry VII of England and Protestant, to whom he had married one of his son, Guilford Dudley.
On the death of Edward in 1553, Jeanne received in effect for nine days as queen, but Mary Tudor, who have their rights recognized, ascended the throne and Dudley, abandoned by all, was put to death, and Guilford Jane Grey and thereafter.
His second son, Robert Dudley became a favorite of Elizabeth I of England.
