The Jezreel Valley (in Hebrew : - also called the plain of Esdraelon) is a broad valley in the north of Israel , named in reference to the town of Jezreel (en) located on a hill in the south valley. The Jezreel Valley is part of the Galilee in the northern district of Israel.
The Jezreel Valley is the site of major human settlements, ancient and modern. The ancient city of Megiddo is located in the southwest Valley. The largest city is the modern town of Afula also called "Capital of the valley."
The Jezreel Valley is, for Christians, the future site of the battle of Armageddon.
