Career

He held many different positions in embassies and consulates in France: Bucharest, Romania, Tripoli Libya, Tunis in Tunisia, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Baghdad, Iraq, Tabriz Iran, Ouarzazate in Morocco (the first consul of France in this city after the gaining independence from Morocco), Khartoum Sudan, Ankara, Turkey (during the official visit of General de Gaulle in 1968), Alexandria in Egypt, Mogadishu in Somalia, Seoul , South Korea, Amman Jordan, Dakar in Senegal (for an official visit of Jacques Chirac then Prime Minister).

It is very often confronted with situations of war or riots, including Iraq (nationalization of the Suez Canal ), Sudan (riots, civil war), and Egypt (the Consul of France during the War Six Days in 1967 in Alexandria).

Fascinated by religions especially the Islam , Louis Massignon , his mentor, and the Virgin Mary, he is fluent Arabic, Hebrew and Turkish. He also practices in his career the Chinese and Korean.

Family and Relationships

Jean Morillon is the son of Paul Morillon (notary ) and Marie-Louise de La Corbiere Mascarel. He married Micheline Virmoux whom he has four children: Marie-Paule, Michele, Jean-Paul and Francis.

There is a close friend of Count Pierre Vaucelles who was Ambassador of France in Baghdad (Iraq) between 1954 and 1956 and godfather to his son Jean-Paul Morillon.
