Jean Michel Leniaud
Jean-Michel Leniaud is a scholar and art historian French , born 18 August 1951 at Toulon.
Career
Jean-Michel Leniaud is a historian known for his work on the history of heritage and history of architecture. He studied at the Ecole Nationale des Chartes in which he released paleographer archivist in 1976 with a thesis entitled "Research on Jean-Baptiste Lassus (1807-1857), archaeologist and architect whose church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Belleville Paris is the last site.
He became a graduate of the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes , and then Doctor of Law and Doctor of Letters.
Inspector of Historic Monuments 1977 to 1990 , he was successively regional curator of historical monuments in the region Rhone-Alpes (1979-1983), Division Head of General Affairs and Protection of Historic Monuments (1983-1986) and Chief the division of movable heritage (1986-1990) at the Ministry of Culture.
He devoted himself entirely to research since 1990 , when he was appointed director of studies at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes. He also teaches contemporary art history at the National School of charters as a lecturer ( one thousand nine hundred and ninety-one - 1 996 ) and then as Professor (since 1996 ) and the Ecole du Louvre since 2000.
His research focuses on the architecture of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the art institution and religious history in relation to the arts. It is also considering the concept of heritage in our society. He produced a considerable body of work (see below). He also directs the publication of the minutes of the Academy of Fine Arts (after 1811). Eight volumes have appeared to date editions of the Ecole des Chartes. He is also editor of Shipments of architectural history, biannual journal.
He is a member of the National Commission of Historical Monuments and the regional commissions and heritage sites in the le-de-France and Poitou-Charentes.
