Jean Francois Courtine

Jean-Francois Courtine, born in 1944, is a historian of philosophy, phenomenological, CNRS researcher, translator, specialist Suarez , of Schelling , of Husserl and Martin Heidegger.

Alumnus John Beaufret and Aubenque Pierre , director of the Husserl Archives in Paris, he was editor of the series "Library of Philosophy" and the series "Issues & Controversies" in Vrin.

Member of the Institut Universitaire de France, he is currently professor of contemporary history of philosophy at the University of Paris IV.

Philosophy professor, he defended his doctoral thesis of State of Arts in 1987 under the direction of Peter Aubenque (subject: "Ontotheology and topical analogy. The turning Suarezians. Study on the training system of the metaphysical school ").

He specializes in the history include the vocabulary of being and of the ontology.

Jean-Francois Courtine was a professor at the University of Poitiers from 1988 to 1990 and professor at the Ecole Normale Suprieure in the Rue d ' Ulm, Paris, 1990 and is headed 1998.Il Research Centre (UMR 8547 ENS - CNRS), "Husserl Archives de Paris, from 1987 to 2009.
