Jean Favier
Jean Favier, born in Paris on 2 April 1932 is a historian medievalist French.

Biography
Student of the Ecole des Chartes , he wrote a thesis entitled An adviser to Philip the Fair: Enguerran de Marigny and leaves paleographer archivist in 1956. He then enlisted the aggregation of history and became a member of the French School in Rome.
It is first Conservative National Archives of 1958 to 1961 before being appointed professor at Orleans High School for the year 1961-1962. However, he quickly obtained a position as a researcher at CNRS , he held from 1962 to 1964.
He began an academic career as lecturer at the University of Rennes (1964-1966), professor at the University of Rouen (1966-1969), then in Paris as director of studies at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (1965-1997) and professor at the University of Paris Sorbonne from 1969 to 1997.
Alongside his career as a teacher and researcher, he held positions in the administration of culture, including Chief becoming Archives of France and director of the National Archives in 1975 to 1994 , and from 1994 to 1997 , Chairman of the National Library of France.
He is a member of the Academy of Inscriptions and Letters since 1985 and president of the French Commission for UNESCO. He was also director of the Revue historique (1973-1997).
From 1992 to 1995 he headed for Fayard a History of France in six volumes. He writes himself the second volume entitled Time principalities. One thousand to 1515.
Jean Favier is curator of the Chateau de Langeais , in the Loire Valley. There is adviser to the Foundation for political innovation.
It is also a radio personality, led especially on France Inter issuance Question for History.
He was married to Lucie Favier.
