Jean Carmet, actor and writer French, born 25 April 1920 in Bourgueil ( Indre-et-Loire , France ) and died on 20 April 1994 at Svres in the Hauts-de-Seine.

Biography

Still young , he interrupted his studies and went to Paris where he was appearing at Theatre du Chatelet , then at the Opera. He was then hired as a manager trainee at the Theater at Marcel Herrand Mathurins. He makes an extra in various films (including The Children of Heaven and the demons of the blade). He then joined the cast of Branquignols of Robert Dhery. It then multiplies the movie roles.

His role of Gaston in the soap opera fluff Family Duraton brought her voice in the 1950s. His international reputation settled in 1976 with the film Victory in singing. His fame in France dated Grand Blond.

His career is rich , it appears in more than two hundred films. It is named for the Cesar for best actor in 1986 for Miss Mona and he won two Cesar Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Les Misrables (in 1983) and Thank you life (in 1992). He also received an Honorary Cesar in 1994 at the hands of Gerard Depardieu , his friend.

He is a true Rabelaisian often embodies the " redneck franchouillard "disturbing ( Dupont Lajoie ) or funny ( The New Beaujolais has arrived ).

When he turned, he left his family to live in a room of hotel in order not to be distracted. He was also a regular station halls which served as housing for its debut. His friends say that when not running, he would sometimes see them play to greet the public at the end of the room. Spectators wondered then who was this character that they could not recall having seen in the room. He had accepted the lead role of Happiness is in the meadow of Stephen Chatiliez but the death having taken up, is his friend Michel Serrault , who took his place.

In 1999 released the book "I am the onlooker to myself" he wrote before his death, published by Plon.

He was buried in Paris , the Montparnasse cemetery.
