Islam was introduced to Morocco for the first time in 670 by the General Arab Oqba Ibn Nafaa , sent by the Umayyads. In 788, the Idrissids were the first Muslim dynasty and Arabic of Morocco. Most of the Berbers converted to Islam and formed their own Islamic dynasties ruling the country.

The king of Morocco has the name of Commander of the Faithful, which gives it a religious power.
