Imam Malik

Malik ibn Anas also known by the name of Imam Dar al Hijrah , Imam of Madina or more commonly Imam Malik ( 711 - 795 ) was a Muslim lawyer and founder of one of four legal schools of Islamic law Sunni , school Maliki.

Muslims believe it was announced by the prophet Muhammad in a hadith which says: "People will go very far with their horses, and they will find someone much wiser than the scholar of Madinah."

We asked the Imam Ibn Uyaynah who was the scholar of Medina, and he replied that it was Imam Malik ibn Anas. Biography

His full name is Abu Abdillah Malik ibn Anas ibn Malik ibn 'Amir ibn Harith, in Arabic : . He is the son of Anas bin Malik (not the Sahabi) and Aaliyah bint al-Shurayk Azdiyya. His family is originally from Yemen, Al-Asbahi tribe. His grandfather, Amir moved to Medina after his conversion to Islam in the second year of the Hegira.

Born in Medina , he will know the transition between the period of the Caliphs Umayyad and that of the Abbasid. This period of expansion of the Muslim empire the emerging need for high court, especially in newly conquered territories.

He learned and memorized the Qur'an very young by Abu Suhail an-Nafi 'ibn' Abd ar-Rahman (not the famous Hadith reporter Nafi '). It allowed him to teach others ( Ijazah ). He studied hadith with Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri , who was the greatest Muhaddith of his time in Naafi ', the freed slave of `Abdullah ibn Umar. Imam Malik was one of the three rapporteurs exceptional constituents "gold chain" (Silsilat udh dhahbiyyah) with his Shaykh Nafi 'and companion' Abdu Llah Ibn 'Umar. Al-Hafiz Abu Dawud also claimed she was the chain of transmission of hadith safest , opinion also shared by Imam Al Bukhari.

He did not move much outside of Medina except for the Hajj , and confint substantially to the knowledge of Medina. Others whom he learned were Hisham ibn Urwah and Jafar Sadiq al

There was a law of Abbasid saying that any man who kept no allegiance to the caliphate would be automatically divorced his wife. Malik objected and said that the law was invalid. He was consequently severely beaten by the Emir of Medina in the year 764 to the point where his arm had become unable to stand on his chest and this is one reason for his qu'avancent some way to pray during qiyam

He began his collection of Hadith at the request of the Abbasid Caliph Abu Ja'far al-Mansoor ,

The Imam died at the age of 83 in Medina.

He admits, and his school after him, besides the Quran and Sunnah , "custom" ( urf or Bil Mahrouf) Medina, consensus (ijma ') "people of Medina" (meaning scientists) and the principle of general utility (istislh).

His school considers that the examples of legislation being in Medina Mohammed's time are sources of Islamic law.

As Imam al Suyuti reported that Imam Ibn Abdu Llah Wahb wrote a book composed entirely of words of Imam Malik titled Kitab Ul Mujlast Year 'Malik.
