Ibn Maja

Muhammad ibn Yazid Ibn Maja ( Arabic : ), more commonly known as Ibn Maja, was a scholar of medieval hadith. He wrote the last of six collections of Hadith called Sunan ibn Majah (en) Biography

Ibn Majah was born in 824 (209 after the Hijra) in Qazvin , in present Iran.

He left his hometown and began a journey into the Islamic world for his knowledge, he went to Iraq to Mecca , the Levant and in Egypt. He studied under the auspices of Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, Muammad ibn Abdillah ibn Numayr, Jubrah ibn al-Mughallis Ibrahim ibn al-Mundhir al-Hizam, Abdullah ibn Mu wiyah, Hisham ibn Ammar, Muhammad ibn Rum, Dawud ibn Rashid and others.

According to Al-Dhahabi (fr) , Ibn Majah died in Qazvin on or about February 19 887, eight days before the month of Ramadan.
