- XX th century BC. AD : Falaqa , the largest island in the country, is a trading and an outpost of civilization Dilmun.
- IV centuryBC. AD : Greek and Roman presence.
- Seventh century : the era of Top Muslim
- In 1660 - in 1716 : The "Outoub" Arab tribes, leaving the Saudi central and settled on the coast.
- 1672 : The chief of the tribe Bani Kaled Barrak, built a small fortress (Kut, Arabic, short Kuwayt).
- late eighteenth century : Kuwait is a sovereign political and economic entity.
- 1869 : The Ottoman governor of the province of Basra recognizes the Sheikh of Kuwait calmacan title.
- 1899 : Signing of a protection treaty with the United Kingdom , Kuwait but remained until 1918 under nominal Ottoman authority.

- 1934 : First oil concession in the United Kingdom.
- 1958 : Iraq claimed sovereignty over Kuwait.
- 19 June 1961 : Independence.
- 1971 : Termination of the security agreement with the United Kingdom.

- 1981 : Kuwait is a founding member of the Gulf Cooperation Council

- 28 February 1991 : The Iraqi troops withdrew from Kuwait following Operation Desert Storm.
- 19 September 1991 : Signing of a security agreement with the United States.
- 16 April 1992 : The special committee of the UN sets the demarcation of the border with Iraq.

- 7 October 1996 : Parliamentary elections for a term of four years. Kuwaiti women demand the right to vote. Tied vote between pro-government, Islamists and liberals.
- 20 January 1997 : Legal action taken by the Islamists against a novelist and a writer. Creating a committee on human rights
- May 4 1999 : Dissolution of Parliament
- May 16 1999 : The emir granted the right to vote to women. Success of the opposition in legislative elections

- 24 February 2001 : Renewal of the defense pact linking the United States to Kuwait
- 30 September 2001 : Establishment of a committee to regulate the activities of Islamic charities.
- May 16 2005 : Vote on giving parliament the right to vote to women.
- May 17 2009 : For the first time in the history of Kuwait , four women were elected deputies to the Parliament of the country: Massumi al-Mubarak, Aseel al-Awadhi, Rula Dashti and Salwa Al-Jassar. Sixteen women were among 210 candidates. This is the first time since winning the right of women to vote in 2005 , some are elected, none of them have been previous legislative elections in 2006 and 2008. Schedule
