The history of the Greek language is flown in this article.
Origins
There are several theories about the origins of Greek. One theory suggests that the first speakers of proto-Greek would have migrated into the Greek peninsula between the twenty-fifth century BC. BC and the seventeenth century BC. AD. Another theory holds that migration took place in Greece in the pre-Proto-Greek (ancient proto-Indo-European ), and that changes phonological characteristics of Greek occurred later.
Linear B
The Linear B , a syllabary used to write the dialect archaic Mycenaean , is the first known script on writing the Greek language. It has been deciphered in 1953. After the fall of the Mycenaean civilization during the systemic collapse that marked the transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age , there was a period of about 500 years during which the writing was not used, or at least, of which no trace has survived to this day.
