Hispania Hither

After the Roman victory over Carthage during the Second Punic War , the Roman Republic Iberian divide their territories into two provinces: Hispania later and Hither Hispania.

The Hispania Hither covers the Mediterranean coast of the Pyrenees in Cartagena. The administration of the province is located in Tarragona.

With the extension of Roman conquests towards the interior, the province became the Tarraconaise , covering the territory from the Mediterranean to Galicia and north of the current Portugal.
