Herod Philip Ii
Simply called Herod Philip Philip is the son of Herod the Great with his 5 th wife Cleopatra of Jerusalem.
He reigned with the title of tetrarch , from -4 to 34 in the northern districts:
- Gaulanitide ;
- Batanea ;
- Trachonitis ;
- Auranitide.
The capital of these areas is called in the Gospels Caesarea Philippi (now Baniyas in the Golan at the foot of Mount Hermon ) not to be confused with Caesarea.
He was the first husband of Salome , daughter of Herod Philip I and Herodias.
