Halal
In the Islam , the word halal ( Arabic : In the food
For the meat is halal:
- requires the animal to be slaughtered without first being stunned living,
- he must have his head turned towards Mecca for him to empty his blood ,
- there must be a Muslim cut his carotid artery and jugular, while uttering sacred words .
The Koran and the Sunna specify haram foods, such as pork, and the conditions under which certain foods become halal.
"Forbidden to you is: dead, blood, flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked a name other than God, the beast choked the beast stunned or dead from a fall or died of a stroke horn, and that a wild beast has devoured - except that you slaughter before it died -. (You are also prohibited the beast) that was sacrificed on stones, and to apportion by lot by arrows. Because it is evil. Today, the disbelievers despair (away from you) of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. "
- The Koran , "The Table", V , 3; (ar) .
One of the Halal requirements is that the animal is slaughtered conscious (and therefore not dizzy) . This is something that stirs controversy .
However, meat from animals slaughtered by the " People of the Book , ie Jews and Christians, is permitted (halal), except that prohibited by Islam, including pork considered lawful but prohibited by Christians in Jewish and Muslim traditions.
"You are permitted food of the People of the Book, and your food is lawful for them. "
- The Koran , "The Table", V , 7; (ar) .
it is in verse 5, not 7: "Today the good things you are allowed. The food of those to whom the Book was given to you and your allowed food is lawful"
Beyond this general appearance of halal food, more processed products are not Halal because of the origin of one of their ingredients or additives.
Sea
In principle anything that comes from the sea is halal (lawful).
According to the Qur'an:
"Hunting is permitted at sea you and also to eat, for your enjoyment and that of passengers. "
- The Koran , "The Table", V , 96; (ar) .
The terms "and also to eat" means that it is permissible to eat meat from animals found dead sailors at sea
And also from the word of Muhammad:
"We were allowed (to eat) two kinds of animals found dead and two kinds of blood on the two dead animals are fish and locusts, and the two kinds of blood are the liver and spleen"
- Narrated by Ahmad, Ibn Majah, Daraqutni
Muhammad's companion Abu Horeyra reported that one of the following words:
"Sea water is purifying and animals found dead are lawful"
- Sunan
Halal certification and controls
