Great Assembly
Great House, Great Synagogue or Great Synod ( Hebrew : is, according to rabbinic Jewish tradition, a gathering of sages created at the time of Ezra the Scribe and it would have provided the spiritual leadership of the Jewish people return from exile of 410-310 before the Common Era , at a time when the delivery of instruction is primarily oral. They did radically change the face of Judaism by detaching the cult linked to the temple and erecting the study as a mitzvah Supreme Judaism Rabin was born.

Great Assembly has, at least at the time of Ezra, between 70 and 120 Sages , the Knesset Anshei HaGuedolah. They remain mostly anonymous, but according to tradition, the last Jewish prophets, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi , and Mordecai (a hero of the book of Esther ), Nehemiah and Joshua the high priest made it party.
Work
Men of the Great Assembly had particular task is to determine among the many Jewish writings, which were, as the Torah , nature inspired, and which were due to human wisdom, securing the biblical canon of the Tanakh in to include particular Nevi'im , the book of Ezekiel. This gun was not accepted by all, including the first Jewish Christians, who regarded as holy books called Deuterocanonical.
They also formalisrent the Jewish liturgy , component according to tradition the eighteen blessings Shmona Essrei (central prayer of Judaism). They also established a close relationship between prayer and worship in the temple of time or there, to match the prayer services morning and afternoon with the moments of the perpetual offering (Korban Tamid) , and the evening with cleaning the ashes of the altar.
The feast of Purim is also established by these sages.
Shimon Hatzadik the link between the Great Assembly, meeting anonymous and Zougot where spiritual direction is provided by a pair of Wise, president and vice president of the Sanhedrin.
The concept of the Assembly was included in the current state of Israel , where the decisions discussed by an assembly of 120 members of parliament, the Knesset. However, unlike the Knesset Haguedolah, these members are mostly from rural non-religious.
