Godefroy De Saint Victor

Godefroy de Saint-Victor (v.1125-1194) is a canon of St. Victor , professor, theologian, philosopher and preacher, and poet and musician.

Summary

Biography

He studied in Paris, perhaps with Adam of Balsham ( Ave. 1159), before returning home the Victorine between 1155 and 1160. It is from this time that he wrote his principal works. Prior to 1180, disagreed with the prior Gautier Bibliography

Works

The works of Godfrey experienced only limited circulation, but his personality is genuine.

There are two self-portraits of him in a manuscript preserved in the Bibliothque Mazarine, Ms. 1002, f. 144 and f. iiv.
