Upper Germany in the Roman Empire , circa 120

Germania Superior or "Germany first", "Upper Germany" according to the authors and Latin or is made a Roman province to 90 by Domitian after two successful campaigns around the valley of the Upper Rhine , the Nahe at Lake Constance , the Switzerland , the Jura , the Franche-Comt and part of Burgundy ). To the east of the Rhine were the Agri Decumates.

The capital of Germania Superior was Mogontiacum - Mainz today.

At the northern limit of Upper Germany sank the Vinxtbach , a small river that flows into the Rhine between Rigomagus - today Remagen - and Confluentes - now Koblenz - and serves as border.

Just south of the town of Bad Breisig in a little burg called Ad fine, it was found a votive stone dedicated to a deity at the borders. She is now the National Museum in Bonn. The old name of this small river seems to have been Obrincas .
