Biography

Geraldine Estelle Halliwell was born on 6 August 1972 at Watford in the UK to a Spanish mother and a Swedish father Franco-English. Already young, she wrote songs with his sister on topics of group like ABBA or the Beatles. Geri then look at her idols Madonna , Michael Jackson or George Michael and decides to pursue a career in the music world.

Geri then became a columnist in a game show in Turkey , then in a broadcast to learn the English language and a program on fashion and makeovers. She dropped everything to hope to find fame.

Spice Girls

Geri answered in March 1994 , an announcement that recruits young singers to form a girl band. She joined the group is struggling with the manager because the group is already trained for several weeks. Shortly after leaving the Spice Girls, Geri launched his solo career and released his first solo album Schizophonic tracking single Look At Me, produced by old friends. The single reached second place in the UK charts, beating out 700 copies of the song You Needed Me group Boyzone. The single will exceed the million copies sold worldwide. His singles include Mi Chico Latino Lift Me Up "success by finishing straight to the top of the charts. His fourth single Bag It Up is also becoming number one.

In 2001 , Geri continues his journey with his second album Scream If You Want to Go Faster which was released on 14 May 2001. A very pop-disco album with a title reggae and ballads where Geri has been more involved in the writing. The album reached # ⁵ on bestseller and went on to sell 1.5 million copies worldwide. The singles from the album, meanwhile, are selling more than the album itself. The first single is a cover of the hit 1980s group The Weather Girls , It's Raining Men, which appeared on the soundtrack of the film Bridget Jones's Diary. In 2002 , this song allows Geri won the award for Best International Song of the Year at the famous NRJ Music Awards. The single It's Raining Men fate therefore in April 2001. It goes straight to the top spot of UK charts and stayed there for two weeks. This is the fourth number one in Geri United Kingdom that sells for more than 155,000 copies in its first week of release and 80,000 copies in its second week. In total, this single has sold over 421,670 copies alone Britain , even to become ^the 12th best-selling singles in Britain in 2001. The single has sold 27,458 the first week of its release but will eventually be sold only 80,000 copies in Great Britain. Those weak sales mark the first commercial failure of Geri.

Calling will be the third and final single from the album. He was released on 26 November 2001 and sold 28,000 copies in its first week. In total, this single eventually sold 66,000 copies which allowed to place at the 192 ^th position of best-selling discs of 2001. The single did little to help increase sales of the album due to lack of promotion. Its low position in the charts that will profoundly affect Geri Calling was declared that his favorite song on the album and she thought it would be number one in power. Consequently, no other single from Scream If You Want to Go Faster Geri is edited and leaves aside his musical career to live in Los Angeles for several months. Although it abandons music quietly, it still starts recording his third album in 2003.

In late 2004 , more than four years have passed since Scream If You Want to Go Faster Geri returned to music with the single Ride It, which reached the ^4th place in the UK charts and number one music charts dance. The single has not undergone extensive promotion abroad, but sells well in all European countries, climbing to the top of the charts, as in Spain where he stands on the ^3rd place. This is the first single from her third album, Passion , which is the name of his second single. Passion is an album mixing pop-disco and jazz and cabaret where Geri's voice is more development, more and more gross pure as on previous albums. It's an album where she has been heavily involved in writing such songs. However, several months elapse before another single is released. Meanwhile, Geri recorded some new songs for the album so far not distributed by its record company that is dissatisfied with the outcome. Released shortly after the album Passion received a more mixed reception by audiences and critics who made this album that stood at the 41 ^th place in the UK charts. At one time considered leaving the song Love Never Loved Me as the third single from Passion, but the idea was quickly abandoned.

Geri is also dedicated to works of charity involved in various associations and organizations. She became in 1998 spokesperson for the foundation of British breast cancer. In September 2003 she was appointed ambassador to the EDA (Eating Disorder Association), which cares for people who suffer from problems of eating behavior. Furthermore, in February 2004 , she participated in the annual forum of Eating Disorders Center's.

Geri is currently working on her fourth studio album, due out in 2011.

The Return of the Spice Girls

Since 2002 , rumors about a reunion of the Spice Girls and Geri are constantly return relayed by the British press. They all are all denied until June 2007 when Melanie Chisholm , last refractory to return, finally accepted the idea.

Thursday 28 June 2007 , the five Spice Girls met officially announce their reunion for a world tour and a compilation of their greatest success in his career. Their tour began in Vancouver on 2 December 2007. The tour made stops including New York , London , Beijing , Madrid , Sydney , Cape Town , Las Vegas and Buenos Aires , to end prematurely, the 26 February 2008 in Toronto. Playlist in this tour, each Spice has a solo song with Geri who always plays his hit It's Raining Men.

On 12 April 2008 , Geri sign a contract with Macmillan Children Foundation for the publication of six books of stories for children.

The book traces the life of nine years of his heroine Ugenya Lavender. The first part of his adventures was published on 2 May 2008 in the United Kingdom. The following titles and release dates are: Ugenya Lavender and the Terrible Tiger ( 6 June 2008 ), Ugenya Lavender and the Burning Pants (4 July 2008 ), Ugenya Lavender Home Alone ⁽¹August 2008 ), Ugenya Lavender and the Temple of Gloom (5 September 2008 ) and Ugenya Lavender: The One and Only (3 October 2008 ). His six books have sold over 250,000 copies in May to October 2008 which allows Geri won the title of best selling books for children in 2008. "

His private life

Geri is the mother of a daughter Bluebell Madonna was born on 14 May 2006 at London in England , she had with the scriptwriter Sacha Gervasi. Since March 2009 she was in a relationship with Henry Beckwith's cousin Tamara Beckwith. She announced her return from the Spice Girls on 28 June 2007. After the tour, she wants to assume full responsibility for her daughter.

Geri Halliwell is singer-songwriter, but also an actress (we could see in Sex & The City, the British film Fat Slag or Spice World: The Movie). Late 2010 early 2011 , she launched her line of swimwear.
