In France, a resistance movement to the guidelines of I. Vatican Ecumenical Council was led by Father Hyacinth with the support of the Old Catholics. He obtained by order of the President permission to open a place of worship on behalf of the Gallican Church 3 December 1883. This chapel was then under the jurisdiction of the Old Catholic Bishop of Utrecht.
The Catholic Church called the Gallican Gazinet born on 15 February 1916 by the declaration of establishment of the Association of worship. Its headquarters is in initial Gazinet in Gironde , where a healer Mama Mathieu had built a church that refused to serve the local clergy. Louis Marie Francois Giraud, who was ordained priest on 21 June 1907 by Joseph-Ren Vilatte and Mom attended Mathieu, after attending Ernest Houssay "said the Rev. Julio who was consecrated bishop on 21 June 1911 , agreed to serve as bishop of the community.
In 1921 , Monsignor Pierre Giraud dedicated Monsignor Gaston Vigu as coadjutor for the Union of Orthodox and Catholic Churches of the West. Since 1921 , the community develops and publishes The Gallican other places of worship as in Tours in 1922 , Bordeaux in 1936 and Paris in 1943.
Mom's death Mathieu 1923 Bishop Giraud deeply hurt and all the faithful, but the life of the community continues to thrive.
In 1928 , Louis Marie Francois Giraud is made by the Archbishop of Almyra primate of the Orthodox Church Chaldean.
In 1929 , Bishop Bernard Giraud dedicated Monsignor Isidore Jalbert-Ville as coadjutor to the Gallican Church.
In 1941 , Bishop Giraud spends a second coadjutor Bishop Lescouzres because of health problems Jalbert City Mgr.
In 1944 , the Vichy regime banned the Gallican Church of Gazinet and archives are scattered. The Church, however, revived after the war and in November 1945, Bishop Giraud publishes a profession of faith known as Gazinet (reissued in 1985 and 1994) remains a standard for the church.
On the death of Bishop Giraud 1950 , a time of division takes place within the Church, the publication of Gallican is stopped. The majority then elected Bishop Jalbert-Ville as Patriarch. Lescouzres Bishop, whose strong temperament was not unanimous among the clergy and the faithful, continued to care for her parish Pessac - The Monteil.
With the election of Bishop Patrick Truchemotte that the Church is experiencing a true revival.
