The prayer of Friday is a universal prayer marked the day of Friday , the week of Easter.

This article presents the version of the missal of the ordinary form of the Roman rite. The version used in the extraordinary form of Roman rite is different.

1. For the Church

Pray, dear brothers, for the holy Church of God : the Father Almighty give him peace and unity, it protects everything in the universe, and it gives us a quiet and peaceable life for us to give thanks to God.

All pray in silence. Then the priest says:

2. For the Pope

Pray for our Holy Father the Pope , Benedict XVI , raised by God our Lord to the episcopal order : he keeps it safely at his church to govern the people of God.

God Almighty and eternal wisdom which holds all things, deign to hear our prayer : lovingly protects the pope you have chosen, so that, under the leadership of this pastor, the people of Christian that you rule is still progressing in the faith. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

3. For the clergy and the people loyal

Pray for our Bishop N., for all bishops , the priests , the deacons , to all those who fulfill the ministries in the Church and for the whole community of believers.

God Almighty and eternal with the Spirit sanctifies and governs the whole body of the church , hear the prayers that we address all levels of believers who compose it: each of them by the gift of Thy grace , serve you faithfully. By Jesus , the Christ , our Lord. Amen.

4. For catechumens

Pray for (our) catechumens: that God our Lord opens their intelligence and their heart, and welcome them in his mercy , after having received the forgiveness of all their sins by bathing in the new birth, they are incorporated into our Lord Jesus Christ.

God Almighty and eternal, you who always ensures the fertility of your Church , increases in our catechumens intelligence and faith : they are reborn into the source of baptism and take your place among adopted children. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

5. For the unity of Christians

Pray for all our brothers who believe in Jesus Christ and seek to conform their lives to the truth: ask the Lord our God to put them together and keep them in the unity of his Church.

God almighty and everlasting, you who brings together what is scattered and that was the unity of what you gather, look with love the Church of your Son: we beseech thee to join in the full faith and the bond of love all men but one Baptism is consecrated. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

6. For the Jewish people

Pray for Jews to whom God spoke, first: they move in the love of his name and the fidelity of his Alliance.

All pray in silence. Then the priest says:

God's eternal and Almighty, you who chose Abraham and his descendants to make the son of thy promise, lead to the fullness of redemption, the first people of the Alliance , as your Church beg. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

7. For other believers

Pray for those who do not believe in Jesus Christ, asking that in light of the Holy Spirit , they are also able to engage fully on the path of salvation.

God Almighty and eternal, gives those who do not believe in Christ to go under your eyes with a sincere heart to reach the knowledge of the truth and give us the better we love each other and open more of our life with yours, to be the world better control of your love. 8. For those who do not know God

Pray for those who do not know God : ask only obeying their conscience they are able to recognize it.

God Almighty and eternal, thou who hast created men to seek you with all their heart and their heart calms down when you are found, do that in the midst of difficulties of this world, everyone can discern the signs of Your kindness and meet witnesses of your love: they have the good fortune to recognize you, you, the only true God and Father of all men. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

9. For government

Pray for the Heads of State and all those responsible for public affairs as the Lord our God directs their mind and heart to his willingness for peace and freedom for all.

God Almighty and eternal, you who hold in your hand the human heart, and guaranteed the rights of peoples, the helper of those who wield power, than anywhere on earth with your gaining momentum through the security and peace The prosperity of nations and religious freedom. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

10. To our brothers in the test

Beloved brethren, pray God the Father Almighty have mercy on the men in the test: it rids the world of any error, it hunts epidemics and famine regrowth, he emptied the prisons and issues the captives, it protects those who travel, it brings home the exiles, he gives strength to the sick, and grants salvation to the dying.

History
