First Epistle To The Thessalonians
The First Epistle to the Thessalonians is a book of the New Testament.
Summary |
It is sent by the apostle Paul , from the city of Corinth , the Church of Thessaloniki , during his first visit to Europe. In all likelihood, it was written in 50-51. Thus, it is the oldest writing in the New Testament.
His work in Thessalonica is described in Acts 17. He wanted to return but could not do (1 Thessalonians 2:18). So he sent Timothy to comfort the converted and tell them how he was. He wrote the first epistle to express his gratitude at the return of Timothy.
Summary
Chapters 1 and 2 contain greetings from Paul and his prayers to the saints.
Chapters 3-5 provide instruction on spiritual growth, love, chastity, diligence and the second coming of Jesus Christ.
