Felix Alcan, born in Metz on March 18 1841 and died in Paris on 18 February 1925 , is a publisher French. He is the founder of ditions F. Alcan specializing in science and philosophy.

Biography

Felix Alcan Mordecai is a Jew Metz, grand-son of Gerson Levy , who was himself a bookseller liberal ideas. His father Moses Alcan was part of the Presbytery and the Commercial Court of Metz.

Felix Alcan in 1862 between the "science" of the Ecole Normale Superieure, where he met Theodule Ribot and Gabriel Monod.

After the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 , he decided to remain in France and left the Lorraine became German Paris , where he settled as a bookseller Distinction
