Fakhr Al Din Ii
Fakhr al-Din or Fakhr-al-Din II ( 6 August 1572 - April 13 1635 ) born in the town of Baakline in the Chouf Mountains (modern Lebanon) and now the family feud Hamadeh ("pride of religion ", Arabic : ), emir , the prince of the Druzes of the Maan dynasty and son of the Emir Korkmaz ("without fear" in Turkish ), was master of the mountains of Lebanon and part of the coast of the Middle East.
His father and grandfather having been implemented by the Turkish Ottoman , his mother erected in Kesrouan , Family Christian Maronite of Khazen, whose son Abounader remained his friend and adviser. In 1590 , he took possession of his stronghold of Chouf and taking advantage of the mobilization of Turks against the Persian and Hungary , broadens its field.
Following a reaction Ottoman, he had to flee from 1613 to 1618 , staying in Italy and especially Tuscany , where he was greeted by the Medici , and inquired about the western technology and administration.
He established the first printing of the Arab world in a convent, a Christian, invited European architects and painters who formed the school known as the Lebanese landscape , and created the first embryo of Lebanon today. Louis XIII , king of France, who called Ficardin , he wrote:
In 1623 he won the battle of Anjar on a powerful allied army commanded by Mustafa Pasha, Wali of Damascus and composed of Ottoman troops, damascennes and Lebanese troops under the command of the Lebanese hostile feudal lords. Attacked by Murad IV , he was defeated after a vigorous resistance, and was strangled by order of the sultan in 1635.
