Esau

Esau (in Hebrew : / e. 'sav / ) is a character from the Tanakh to the Jews and the Old Testament for Christians, the son of Isaac and Rebecca. His story is told in the book of Genesis. Hungry, he would have sold against a mess of pottage, his birthright to his brother, sister , yet younger, Jacob.

His name probably means "hairy, shaggy" (cf. Arabic to th ), what it was, while Jacob was smooth.

Esau is called Edom ( Hebrew Edom: red, red) and will be the ancestor of the Edomites or Edom, the people of the father of Herod the Great.

Esau is also the father of Judaism Western civilizations including the Roman Empire Note

It is that of Esau the biblical phrase "Who goes hunting loses his place" because history tells us that his brother Jacob received the blessing of their father, with the help of their mother Rebecca , during that Esau was out hunting for a meal to his father. Isaac , blind, thought that the son to whom he gave his blessing was Esau, so it was Jacob who had posed for him. Isaac's blessing should have gone to Esau because he had the birthright. Life of Isaac and that he knew nothing without the right of primogeniture changed hands when Jacob bought at the price of lentil soup to hungry Esau.
