The Eritrean Orthodox Church is an autocephalous Eastern Orthodox Church. It belongs to all churches of the three councils. The head of the Church carries the title of Patriarch of Eritrea, with residence in Asmara (incumbent: Anthony I. since 2003 (filed by the Holy Synod (or government) but still recognized by the other Eastern Churches) or Dioscorus I. (inducted on 27 May 2007 but not recognized).
