History The Central School of Arts and Manufactures was founded in 1829 on a private initiative by Alphonse Lavalle , businessman shareholder of the newspaper-inspired St. Simonian The Globe and first director, who was surrounded by three scientists: Jean-Baptiste Dumas , Eugene Peclet and Theodore Olivier. It aims to train engineers for the general infant industry ("the doctors of factories and mills), at a time when tertiary institutions form rather frameworks of the state. It went public in 1857 when Lavallee bequeathed to the French government to ensure sustainability. She is then temporarily renamed Imperial School of Arts and Manufactures. She attributes from 1862 the title of engineering and manufacturing arts, first as a graduate engineer in France and become established now as a graduate engineer from the Central School of Arts and Manufactures.

Installed initially in Paris , the Hotel de Juign (now Htel Sal, host of the Museum Picasso ), then in quarters built for the purpose Montgolfier Street (which now belong to the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (CNAM) which The original building is adjacent), it is transferred in 1969 in Chatenay-Malabry gathering on campus academic buildings and research, the residence of students and several community facilities (cafeteria, stadium, gymnasium). President Pompidou , accompanied for the occasion by Robert Galley , Centrale and then Minister himself inaugurated this campus.
cole Centrale Paris has quickly gained a great reputation . Big names in the industry come out ( Gustave Eiffel , George Leclanche , Andre Michelin , Armand Peugeot , Louis Bleriot , Francis Bouygues , etc..). Personalities in the arts have also been educated, as the writer Boris Vian , the sculptor Gerard Chamayou said Felix (engineer Geode in Paris) or the singer Antony.

- Casting - Competitions Admission on Title Engineer, L3 license holders: 40 seats open.
- Exchanges TIME double degree partner institutes TIME-Part of the students come from licensing scientific or academic institution foreign partner (one hundred students out of 500 in graduating class).
- Training
The course lasts about three and a half years, but can be longer in some cases. The teaching combines science courses, humanities courses ( humanities , philosophy of science , consideration of life), and sports. The school says the training mission as general engineering of high scientific and technical leaders, ready to act on an international stage and meet the challenges of the XXI century . All engineering students must complete at least one semester abroad during an academic exchange program, an internship, or double degree.
Promotion 2010 (back in 2007) opened the new engineering curriculum called Ariane, which is composed of a year of "core" ( mathematics , physics , computer science , mechanics , biology , economics , management , etc..) then a year comprising mainly of the courses chosen ("elected"), and finally a year of specialization , followed by an internship of six months. Alternatively, specialization may be performed in a partner institution for the purpose of obtaining a double degree. It then usually lasts two years and takes place in established European network ( TIME ) or Anglo-Saxon universities network (Master's degree), thus allowing to obtain a Master of Science. Obtaining a master's research in parallel with the specialization year at Chatenay-Malabry is also possible. A "break" between the second and third year to perform one or more internships is permitted. The year of specialization shall be by a matrix selection: first, an "option" disciplinary (Planning and Sustainable Building, Energy, Environment-matter-living, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Mechanics and Aeronautics, Space, Physics and applications, Information Sciences, Advanced Systems) and secondly, a "pathway" for a type of art (design and industrialization, Project Management, Operational Management, Research Professionals, Entrepreneur, Strategy and Finance ).
